Stantec Tower Reaches New Heights as Edmonton’s Tallest Tower
ICE District’s Stantec Tower and SKY Residences soars over downtown buildings now reaching 54 storeys
EDMONTON – May 23, 2018 – ICE District Properties Joint Venture is pleased to announce the impressive beacon of Edmonton’s downtown, Stantec Tower, with SKY Residences atop, has now reached 54 storeys, 197 metres, making it Edmonton’s tallest tower. This milestone marks a new monument for Edmonton, changing the city’s skyline with its innovative architecture and engineering.
Renowned for its iconic developments in Edmonton’s downtown core, ICE District continues to revamp the appearance of the city and enhance Edmonton’s landscape.
“The past few years have seen incredible transformations in Edmonton’s downtown core,” says Glen Scott, president of Katz Group Real Estate. “Today, we are proud to say that Edmonton has reached new heights with its tallest building, Stantec Tower, standing in the heart of the city’s bustling ICE District.”
Currently at 54 storeys tall, Stantec Tower continues to grow three metres each week – to rise to a total of 251 metres. Once completed, it will stand at 66 storeys high with 29 floors of office space, making it the tallest tower in Western Canada. Atop of the commercial level sits SKY Residences condominiums, featuring 483 premium residential suites with luxury lifestyle facilities. Resident’s will have access to 20,000 sq. ft. of amenity space including a hot tub, fitness facilities, a billiards lounge, yoga/Pilates studio and more.
Stantec Tower is expected to be topped off this fall, with the first residents being Stantec Edmonton personnel, who will be moving into their new headquarters in the fall.
“Employees from across Stantec have a lot of pride in our new company headquarters, a project our architects and engineers have worked on for the past four years,” says Stantec president and chief executive officer, Gord Johnston. “We have watched the Stantec tower grow from our ground breaking in 2015 to the topping off of the commercial portion of the building in November 2017. Today, our head office makes history, becoming the tallest tower in Edmonton, and we won’t stop growing for months.”
Since groundbreaking, Stantec has provided full architecture and engineering services and the Tower has been designed to be sustainable and energy efficient, with a target to be LEED® Gold Certified.
